I currently hold a card which is in its final year of validity. What are my options?

In the fifth year of the card’s validity (dependent on when you were certificated), you will not lose time on your card, similar to an MOT certificate i.e. if you come forward two months before card expiry, those two months will be added to your card. This is to ensure that Candidates are not disadvantaged should they choose to come forward in their final year of validity.

We would recommend you are certificated, preferably, in the final year of your card expiry. This will enable the Centre to submit your application to SWQR and should there be any queries, they can be resolved before the card expires.

I currently hold a card which has expired. What are my options to renew?

You can renew your card by undertaking a re-assessment at a Centre up to five years after the card expiration date. Please note even though you can re-assess during this period, your card will not be valid until you have been certificated and your new card issued by SWQR.
